Although the activities you can participate in during the fall months on Maui aren’t very much different to the ones you participate in the rest of the year, the vibe may be a little different, especially as September through November is considered off-season. Most of the world is going back to school, back to work, and back to reality, but being the seasoned traveler that you are, you are preparing to go back to paradise! We at Maui Life Realty have prepared this guide to the top outdoor activities in Maui you can enjoy in the fall, helping you prepare for a trip that you will never forget.

The Beach Life Is the Best Life

Yes, you will be spending as much or as little time on the beaches of Maui as you like, because warm days and warm nights really do make it nearly impossible to tell the difference between summer and fall. This might be the perfect time to visit Kaihalulu Beach, one of our secluded and enchanting beaches offering an interesting secret; the sands of this beach are red, created from the red lava cinder cliffs that line the beach. Located in Hana, it is a beautiful and serene destination on your Road to Hana journey.

The Road to Hana

Again, the outdoor activities in Maui you engage in during your fall trip won’t look much different than the ones you engaged in during your summer visit, but roads, beaches, and restaurants will all be less crowded. The Road to Hana is a winding one that extends out 64 miles, bringing guests through rainforests, waterfalls, and charming towns and shops. You could make the journey in just about three hours, but if you want to do it right, we recommend taking at least an entire day!

Kula Country Farms Pumpkin Patch, October 1 through 31st, 6240 Kula Highway in Kula

Showing that we can bring fall to the islands, the Kula Country Farms Pumpkin Patch,  is an event that charms all who attend. Offering the opportunity to pick your own pumpkin while also featuring a children’s garden, farm animals, a sunflower patch and a farm stand that we promise you will not be able to resist clearing them out of all the goodies found on the shelves. We understand that you may not want to deal with a giant pumpkin during your stay, but they also offer tiny pumpkins and decorative gourds, giving your fall hideaway a seasonal flair. Entrance fee is $5 but it is free for kids 3 & under.

Sea Maui

No, we didn’t misspell sea, Sea Maui is a tour group offering snorkeling trips, sunset dinner or cocktail cruises, and during the season, whale watching tours that are exciting and inspirational, but the latter doesn’t really start until the middle of December. A sunset dinner cruise offers a buffet style dinner, access to a full open bar, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays, live music as you cruise over the water watching the sunset and keeping an eye out for frolicking dolphins while the cocktail cruise offers a similar experience, substituting appetizers (pupus) for the buffet dinner. Costs range between $74 and $108, with kids 2 & under costing absolutely nothing.
