This Way to the Beach

The best part of a Maui vacation, at least in our opinion, is that no matter what time you’re visiting Maui, colorful sandy beaches will be waiting, and the water will be warm and clear. As a matter of fact, even as you may be reading this at home in December or January, as you stare out the window onto a landscape covered in snow with steel-gray skies looming almost menacingly overhead, we are probably sitting on a beach on Maui, tropical drink in hand, smiling up at a sun that is smiling back down on us.

This, of course, makes the beach the first thing you will want to experience, no matter what time of day or night you arrive, so go ahead, drop your bags at the door, slip into your flipflops and run outside to get your first taste of toes in the sand serenity. Because you chose Maui Life Realty, that beach will more than likely be located just steps away from your back door!

The Meals You Will Love

When you return to real life, looking tanned and feeling serene and stress free, chances are the tales you will tell will all end with “that meal that you had at that restaurant!” Vacations and good eating go hand in hand, and on Maui, locally sourced ingredients that include the freshest seafood harvested from the waters that surround our island will give you happy dreams and more reasons to return again.

A pancake breakfast at Kihei Caffe (1945 S Kihei Road in Kihei), a Kaanapali Bento Box at Leilan’s on the Beach (2435 Kaanapali Parkway in Lahaina), and just about anything on the menu at Mala Ocean Tavern (1307 Front Street in Lahaina) all will make you happy, offering a casual Hawaiian vibe that is also welcoming to tiny travelers! Life is too short to eat bad food, and your restaurant options on Maui will ensure that is not an issue.

A Luau to Remember

This itinerary we are creating isn’t set in stone, nor is it an hour by hour, day by day tour of the island, but one activity that we stand firmly behind has been a tradition in Hawaii for a couple of centuries, and we are of course talking about a luau. Offering an authentic look into our history that is both entertaining and educational, as well as fun and delicious, we can promise that this is a family-friendly activity that all ages will enjoy.

There are many options, of course, and all will be excellent ones, but if we had to choose just one, the Myths of Maui Luau held at the Royal Lahaina Resort would be it. This is Maui’s longest running luau, and as the flower lei (or kukui nut lei for men) is placed around your neck, you will be ready to experience a night you will never forget. There is an all you can eat buffet with traditional Hawaiian foods, music, hula dancing, and a finale that involves fire and daggers, and even though the luau lasts nearly three hours, time will fly, your children will be thrilled, and the end of the luau will come all to soon!

Warm Waters Await

Adventures that include surfing (Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy), snorkeling tours around the Molokini Crater (Pride of Maui Snorkeling Tours), and whale watching tours that never fail to thrill (Ultimate Whale Watch and Snorkel) will remind you again how much fun it is to spend this time with your favorite people in the world. Even the youngest travelers will thrill to see a whale breaching the waters, and don’t be surprised if your teens or tweens pick up the sport of surfing faster than you; kids are just more talented that way.

Fortunately, snorkeling is an activity that will fascinate (The world under the sea is exciting and colorful!) and is easy for adults and children to quickly adapt to. These watery adventures will be the ones that create the best memories and make all your friends back home in your wintry hometown turn green with envy when they see the pics and your gorgeously tanned skin!
